Also Known As:
GROUND PINEAPPLE
Product Info: Dried Pineapple (Ananas comosus). Pineapple is named as such because of its resemblance to a pine cone. In most European languages besides English the Pineapple is known as "Ananas" which is derived from the Paraguayan name for "excellent fruit." The Pineapple is native to Central and South America. Dried Pineapple, like the fresh fruit, has a sweet mildly tart taste. Pineapples are a good source for Vitamins C and A. These finely diced pieces are great in stir-fry dishes and baked goods. They can also be used in chutneys and sauces. Suggested Use: Dried Pineapples are great out of the bag or in trail mix. They can be baked in cakes Ingredients: Pineapple, sugar, sulfur dioxide (to retain color), and citric acid Basic Preparations: There is no preparation needed for dried fruit. If used in baking, you may want to rehydrate. To rehydrate dried fruit, pour boiling water over the fruit and let sit covered for 5 to 10 minutes. |
