Product Info: Papayas are sweet and refreshing and also a great source of Vitamin C. Papayas are cultivated fruit similar to a melon with a deeper flavor and yellow-orange flesh. Papayas grow in groups on tall trees, similar to coconut trees. They can weigh between one half a pound and up to 20 pounds. There are many varieties of Papayas and they are grown in many tropical countries. The exact origin of the Papaya is unknown but it is believed to be native to the Americas.Contains sulfites. Dried Papaya Spears are mechanically dried. Suggested Use: Diced Dried Papaya can be used in trail mix, baked into muffins or scones. It can add an interesting touch to seasonal fruit cakes. Papaya can also be cooked into meat dishes or softened and tossed with cooked couscous. Ingredients: Papaya, sugar, sulfur dioxide as a preservative, FD&C yellow #5 and #6. Basic Preparations: There is no preparation needed for dried fruit. If used in baking, you may want to rehydrate. To rehydrate dried fruit, pour boiling water over the fruit and let sit covered for 5 to 10 minutes. Drain well before using. |
